Home Remedies for Arthritis

Arthritis - a general term referring to a condition of the joints. Literally it refers to an inflammation of the joints. There are many types of arthritides. The form which will inflict many people as they age is known as osteoarthritis. Other types include rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.

At present, many arthritic patients have been taking aspirins as a temporary pain-reliever with good results in some cases. It can result in joint disfigurement and restricted joint mobility. Categorized into as many as 12 types, the most common are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid. Although uncommon, some people with ulcerative colitis experience arthritis. Sarcoidosis can cause a granulomatous form of arthritis.

Gout usually occurs in men over 40 and is caused by the elevated blood levels of uric acid, which forms crystals in the joints. The immune system reacts to these crystals as if to a foreign invader. The joint, as a result, becomes inflamed and painful.

How to relieve/reduce arthritis pain?

To reduce arthritis pain, make sure to get plenty of minerals in the diet. Take the mineral supplements bonemeal and dolomite to help with this, and compliment them with oatstraw to help the body absorb the minerals.

Research shows you can ease the pain by rubbing the joint with an over-the-counter ointment called Zostrix, made from capsaicin--the stuff that puts the hot in hot peppers.

Arthritis Prevention

Salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines actually prevent arthritis. Dancing is a good way to combine weight loss, exercise and stress reduction. Being overweight can enhance damage to joints by putting excess pressure on them, resulting in worsening osteoarthritis, so I advise losing any excess weight you're carrying
